General Summary:
This position is accountable for daily trading activity for a trading location. Under the direction of the Location Manager, incumbent is responsible to trade commodity positions, while developing and supporting relationships with the Location’s customer base. This will require assistance in arranging freight, negotiation with customers, and assistance in managing the cash flow and credit for the Location. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to A/R, A/P, month-end variances, freight variances, over-fills/under-fills, and assistance on annual forecast.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
This position is accountable for daily trading activity within a trading location. This requires development of customer contacts, providing service to all customers for the Location as needed, creating business opportunities, writing contracts, executing on those contracts and executing any other transactional activity for the Location.
This position assists in the acquisition and execution of freight needs within the Location under the direction of the Location Manager. Negotiations and trading with both buy and sell side customers are constant activities in this position, and require broad understanding of the markets being traded as well as an ability to resolve problems as they arise.
This employee is active in the management of cash usage within the business and looks to minimize cash usage where possible while maintaining margins. Cash usage impacts the incentive compensation program for this position.
Company credit guidelines for customers must be followed, with weekly review expected from the Credit Manager. The employee, along with Location Manager, must perform collection of funds due in a timely fashion. All accounts receivable and accounts payable balances are to be reviewed and addressed in a timely fashion to maximize collection and timely customer service.
Management and execution of futures trading activity and accounts for use within the Location are required in this position. Additional requirements of this position are assistance in the resolution of month-end variances and freight variances, timely reporting of activity, and managing over-fills/under-fills on contracts in timely fashion. The incumbent is expected to actively participate in the annual forecast process, and be involved in the 6 month reviews completed during the year.
The employee is also expected to respond the needs that may arise as defined by the Location Manager that are necessary for the ongoing success and development of the location's business.
Background Required:
4 year college degree, 1-2 years of grain merchandising experience.
