OUR HISTORY & EVOLUTION

Lansing Trade Group traces its origin to the Marshall-Myers Grain Company, a partnership formed in 1922 by Lyle Marshall and Ray Myers, in Jackson, Michigan. In 1931, the company relocated its operations to Lansing and was renamed in honor of Michigan's capital. At that time, these gentlemen identified a need within the agricultural community for a reliable and responsive marketing organization to serve elevators and grain processors throughout the region.

From this modest beginning the company has evolved into the global merchandising and transportation network it is today. With an array of trading offices, grain elevators, and transload facilities throughout the country and internationally, Lansing Trade Group employees stand ready to carry on the traditions of integrity and sound company culture bequeathed to us by our founders. We believe that by providing straightforward and informed marketing information and ideas, demonstrating flexibility and agility in trade execution, and striving to supply detailed and timely contract and shipment processing, we build on our reputation as the nation's premier independently owned physical trading company.

As we look to the future we are ever mindful that our industry is changing, evolving, consolidating, and specializing. We have tailored our growth strategy to meet the needs of agri-business and our customers. This has been accomplished by staffing with some of the most knowledgeable merchants and support personnel to be found anywhere. We have built a sound capital base and expanded our banking relationships, acquired strategically located facilities to augment our supply base, leased a fleet of covered hopper and tank cars to enhance control over timely delivery, and have adapted our information technology to the tools of the modern era.

We are proud of our history. As one of the five oldest continuously active members of the National Grain and Feed Association, we have demonstrated a long term commitment to the industry and to our clients that is nearly unparalleled. Our longevity is an indication that we live up to the level of integrity and service our customers have come to expect of us. We intend to continue living up to our reputation — a reputation born in a small one-room office in Jackson so many years ago.
